This entire story is extremely familiar. From the ages of 14 to 22 I lived with a schizophrenic brother. He behaved exactly like this and then some. He would laugh hysterically at nothing, abuse who knows what substances and threaten violence at the slightest provocation. I was afraid to sleep in my own home and his presence ruined my relationships with friends and family. I both hated him and felt pity and guilt for him. No one I know has any idea what this has been like for us.

He finally found a spot in a half-way house. He is semi independent now but far from cured. It has been a horrible experience and I guess I feel your pain too.
