Men often have unique skin care needs and there are many facial products designed especially for men on the market today. These products can be for a specific problem such as acne and dry or oily skin and there are even products for men that address issues related to aging. It is suggested that a few times a year a man should have a facial.
Cleansing the face is the first step in good skin care and there are many facial cleansers on the market today. A person should choose the cleanser that works best for his type of skin. If a man has dry skin, soaps are not recommended as they tend to be drying. Products with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and tea tree oil are helpful in treating acne or blemishes. The correct way to wash your face is to apply a dime-sized amount of cleanser on to a wet face, gently rub it in and rinse it off completely with lukewarm water.
If a man has very dry skin he should use a moisturizer, either combined in a cleanser or alone. A moisturizer with sunscreen will help prevent aging and help with skin cell regeneration. The dryer your skin the thicker a moisturizer should be. However, do not use one that is so thick it will clog pores as this can cause skin breakouts.
A shaving cream with aloe will help moisturize the skin and will help to prepare it for shaving. A toner can be used after shaving to help tighten the pores and remove any traces of oil on the skin. Men with dry skin should not use a toner with alcohol in it as it is too drying.
Men should not feel embarrassed about shopping for products for their skin care. Our skin is our protection and we should take care of it.
