If you’re getting to the point where you feel as though no one understands how you feel and so no one can help you. You may want to turn to a pain specialist. Believe it or not, most doctors don’t have the necessary educational backing to deal with people who have chronic pain.
When looking for a doctor for pain, you might want to turn to four different associations/foundations:
The American Academy of Pain Medicine
This site has a lot of information about physicians who understand pain and know how to manage it through medication. You’ll learn about the academy, current news about pain, and if you join, be a part of a community of physicians and individuals who understand chronic pain.
When looking for a pain specialist, asking if he/she is part of The American Academy of Pain Medicine is a good idea.
On this site, you can learn more about pain management and read about the world news about what physicians are doing to help people who suffer from pain. You can join the foundation or donate. This is another foundation that has many respectable pain management doctors.
Learn more about pain, family issues, news and meet others who are in the same shoes. You can even keep a pain journal right on the site. Look under the Providers tab to search for a pain management doctor in your area!
