The latest thing these days to help with weight loss is the consumption of acai berry. Many believe that this antioxidant can help you lose weight and keep it off. However, as many fad diets and weight loss myths, experts say that acai berry does not promote weight loss.
Understanding Acai Berry
Acai berry is rich in antioxidants and has phytonitrients that can help you fight disease. It also has what many wines have, anthocyanins. While these are all great nutrients to consume, none of them will help you lose weight. They may make you feel healthier though just like any other rich antioxidant food or supplement.
The Misperception of Acai Berry
While many people believe that acai berry will promote weight loss, they are actually setting themselves up for weight gain because of its sugar content. It’s just like a juice, which contains a lot of sugar. If you eat too many acai berries, your body will begin to store the extra sugar as fat, which will work against you if you are trying to lose weight.
What Now?
There’s no magical berry that will help you lose weight. Eating a healthy diet and exercise are the most effective and healthy ways to lose weight. Before jumping on the bandwagon of fad diets and weight loss myths, do your research.
