As you’re contemplating where to raise your family, you may want to consider major roads that run past the home. These major roads can cause health problems in your children that could last a lifetime.
In a new study by Joachim Hienrich from the German Research Center for Environment and Health at the Institute of Epidemiology in Munich, children who lived near major roads had a higher chance of suffering from allergies, asthma and skin rashes.
What’s Causes the Allergies, Asthma and Skin Rashes
While you may think that air quality is much better now than in the past, you’re wrong. Congested highways and roads are creating visible smog in large cities all over the United States. It’s believed that the nitrogen oxides and aerosols emitted from vehicles are the main culprits in the development of allergies, asthma and skin rashes in children.
How Far Should You Live?
The farther you live from major roads the better. In the study, the children who lived 165 feet from a road had a 50% higher chance of becoming affected, while children who lived closer than that had an even greater risk.
Your Children’s Health
If you already live in high traffic zones and your children are sick often, you may want to consider if where you live is causing your children’s sickness. Each child responds differently to toxins in the air so it’s important that you seek medical attention for your child immediately.
