Do you know the symptoms of a heart attack in women?

The heart attack symptoms in women are not the same as the ones for men. This is why many women don’t know they are having a heart attack, which greatly affects their survival and treatment.

Symptoms for a Heart Attack in Women

Not all women will have chest pain. It’s important to know and identify the following symptoms in yourself when you might be having a heart attack.

  • Fatigue
  • Sweating
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Heartburn
  • Abdominal pain
  • Discomfort in neck, jaw, upper back and shoulder

If you feel any of these symptoms, call 9-1-1 immediately. Your survival depends on the promptness of medical care.

Women’s Health and a Heart Attack

Many women don’t pay attention to their symptoms of a heart attack because they downplay them. This can be a problem especially when a heart attack is on the horizon because the symptoms start out mild. The one thing that women need to keep in mind, especially if they have heart disease in the family, is to respond to any physical symptoms you experience. Either make an urgent appointment with your doctor or seek medical care as soon as you feel ill.
