Stress

Talk of stress management is all around us. Everywhere you turn people are trying to give you pointers on how to manage your stress levels and telling you how horrible it is to experience chronic stress. While all of this is true and important, sometimes, it helps to accept that stress may just be a part of your personality.

Are you the type of person who gets bored easily? Or do you seem to become unmotivated when you only have a couple of things to do in a day? You may postpone things on your ‘to do list’ because you figure you can just get them done when they really need to be done (also known as procrastination)? The reason why you do this is because stress makes you act and without it, there’s nothing that fuels you.

With stress, you feel like you MUST get it done and you must get it done NOW. It gets you hyped up, excited and ready to take it on. You know what you need to do and you challenge yourself to get it done on time. Life is full of challenges for you and that makes you happy because you ultimately overcome them.

While having a stress personality may be helpful to you in your life, it still may have detrimental health effects. It’s important to balance your personality so you can safeguard your health. When you are feeling like you are unraveling from the stress you put yourself under, be good to yourself and let yourself breathe for a moment. Don’t worry, you can go right back to the stress when you’re done. At least this way, you give your body a break and a chance to repair itself from the abuse.
