Health Insurance

The risks of not having health insurance can be great. If you are self-employed or work at a job that does not provide you with health insurance, you may decide not to endure the extra cost of health insurance. However, this could be a very dangerous move on your part that could put you in financial blunder for many years.

You may say to yourself, “I don’t REALLY need health insurance because I don’t have any medical problems and I hardly get sick.” While this may be true, you never know what could happen tomorrow and medical care without insurance could cost you thousands of dollars!

If you become ill, you may decide to put off seeing the doctor so you won’t have to pay for it out of pocket. However, since you didn’t see the doctor, you may start to feel worse. The next thing you know, you feel so bad that you have to go to the Emergency Room. You may even have to take an ambulance. As soon as you step foot into an ambulance or into an Emergency Room, you can expect to pay at least a few hundred dollars.  This doesn’t even include the testing they will do on you and if you have to be admitted. If you’re lucky, you will be able to leave the same day with some prescriptions that will cost you another couple hundred dollars or more to fill.

If you are the victim of an accident and suffer from injuries, you will most likely be rushed to the hospital. Remember the few hundred dollars for the ambulance and the ER? Well, if your injuries are bad enough, the hospital will admit you, run a battery of tests and if you are really hurt, you may need surgery or some other procedures.  Surgery will cost 10s of thousands of dollars and procedures aren’t much less expensive. Without health insurance, you will be responsible for all of the costs.

Sounds scary, doesn’t it? That’s why it’s better to have health insurance that you pay a premium for each month than take the risk of not having it. Get a health insurance plan today because remember, you don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
