Health, Weight Loss

If you haven’t already heard, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you wake up in the morning, you’re body hasn’t received any fuel for the last six plus hours and that means you’re hungry and dehydrated. Breakfast helps your body and mind wake up so you can get that jump start on the day and helps you eat less throughout the day helping you lose weight or maintain weight loss.

So when you start looking for something to eat in the morning, what do you usually decide on? Something quick and easy, if you’re like most people. The problem with most instant breakfasts like cereal is that it can give you that energy you’re looking for but with a pretty big sugar crash. If you find yourself feeling tired, hungry or just sluggish only a couple hours after breakfast, it’s because you need something that stays with you and doesn’t give you a that plummeted sugar level.

Oatmeal Is Super Food: Why It’s Good for You

  • Oatmeal is a great whole-grain food.
  • It’s promotes good digestive health.
  • It helps maintain blood sugar levels.
  • It gives you a quick burst of energy to get you running out the door.
  • It has high fiber, which keeps you feeling full longer.
  • Oatmeal contains three essential nutrients: magnesium, protein and phosphorus.

When you choose oatmeal, avoid the instant. It usually has high levels of sugar. Instead, get the Old Fashioned, Steel Cut, Thick Cut or other slow cooking varieties.
